Khwan's Tea Butterfly Pea Flower Powder, often called blue matcha, is made from USDA Organic butterfly pea flowers (Clitoria ternatea) grown in northern Thailand. It dissolves in water and gives drinks and food a vivid, natural royal blue without any artificial dye. Caffeine-free, non-GMO, vegan and gluten-free, with no preservatives or added sugar.
Taste and aroma
The powder has a very mild, slightly earthy flavor, so it adds color without changing the taste of your recipe much. Like the whole flowers, it turns purple when you add citrus.
How to brew
- Whisk ½–1 teaspoon of powder into 30 ml of warm water until smooth.
- Add 200 ml of steamed or cold milk (dairy or plant-based).
- Sweeten with honey or syrup to taste.
- For a two-tone iced drink, pour the blue mix over milk and ice.

No. Blue matcha is ground butterfly pea flower and is caffeine-free. Green matcha is ground green tea leaf and contains caffeine.
